Artistic leader
Mladen Miloradović was born in Belgrade, Serbia, and began playing the cello at the age of seven. He studied cello at the University of the Arts Bremen and the University of Music Detmold. In addition to his cello studies, he privately studied conducting. Currently, he plays the cello with the Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra. His motivation for founding Ensemble Restart stems from his work as an arranger and composer. Through writing for other orchestras, he realized that he wanted to compose for his own orchestra. His great wish was to create an ensemble where musicians from various nationalities could play together, demonstrating that music has no boundaries and that people can always come together through it. He has composed pieces and arrangements for orchestras in Germany, the Netherlands, Serbia, Poland, Austria, and Switzerland. These works have been performed at festivals such as the Cello Biennale Amsterdam, the European Chamber Music Festival in Warsaw, and Convivium Musicum in Serbia. His music has been played by renowned orchestras including the Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam, the Amsterdam Sinfonietta, the Musikdorf Ernen Festival Orchestra, the Aachen Symphony Orchestra, and the Northwest German Philharmonic in Herford. He has also collaborated with distinguished soloists such as Xenia Jankovic, Natalia Gutman, Julian Steckel, and Alasdair Beatson. His first symphony was selected for premiere in a competition held by Serbian Radio. In addition to being the founder of Ensemble Restart, he is a cello teacher at the University of Music and Dance Cologne and the University of the Arts Bremen.
